RAISING FUNDS FOR SERVICE PERSONNEL AND VETERANS BATTLING CANCER

Why is Bernie taking this challenge?

Where in the World is Bernie?

Bernie, his herd mate Harry, and his human Stuart will be visiting landmarks across the country to raise vital funds for Charlie Charlie One. We're on a mission to support veterans, serving personnel, and military families affected by cancer. We’ve set an ambitious fundraising target of £15,000, and your support is vital in helping us reach this goal to make a real difference together.

Maintaining this essential peer support depends on a continuous flow of funding. Since we don’t receive any government or statutory grants, we rely heart and soul on your kind donations to keep our network here for the military community.

My name is Bernie.

I’m an 8-year-old alpaca and, in my humble opinion, the most handsome resident of Wellwood Alpacas.

I enjoy the finer things in life: fresh grass, extra food, admiring my reflection and causing occasional mischief with a hosepipe.

Some say I steal food. I prefer to think of myself as an opportunist.

This year, I’m setting off on an important mission for Charlie Charlie One, raising money for serving personnel, veterans and military families affected by cancer.

The humans are calling it Where in the World is Bernie?

You’ll be able to follow my adventures, guess where I’ve been and help support a wonderful cause.

I’ll be travelling with Stuart, founder of Charlie Charlie One, a veteran who has been living with prostate cancer for the last seven years.

It was his idea. Thankfully, I quite like him.

Meet Harry — Bernie’s Trusted Companion

Every great adventurer needs a loyal companion, and Bernie is no exception.

Joining him on his fundraising journey is five-year-old alpaca Harry, also known as Harry Trotter — and occasionally Harry Houdini.

Harry is calm, friendly and especially gentle with children. He loves attention, treats and any opportunity to lie down rather than stand up.

He also has a mischievous side. His Houdini nickname comes from his talent for escaping places he should not be, treating gates and fences more like suggestions than rules.

As Bernie travels Scotland raising funds for Charlie Charlie One, Harry will be by his side offering companionship, moral support and the occasional reminder that every journey needs plenty of rest stops.

Together, they make the perfect team: one alpaca with a mission, and one making sure nobody takes life too seriously.

IMPACT & SUPPORT WHAT WE DO

Charlie Charlie One's mission across the UK to provide critical peer support for military families, serving and veterans and those affected by cancer.

Cancer is indiscriminate and does not differentiate; age, gender, ethnicity, background, and status are irrelevant.  But those seeking our support, regardless of their rank, are united by military service, common values, and, of course, their cancer diagnosis.  While established as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) in August 2021, we seek to support individuals throughout  the  United Kingdom.  www.charliecharlie.one
